Honestly Waven doesn't have very many "beginner traps" since almost everything is universal across all characters. My best advice is don't overlevel spells/items (basically stop at level like 5 imo) and don't be afraid to try all the classes each one is different enough theres at least one you fall in love with. The ankama launcher checks to see if the game is open already and won't launch a second instance. Steam also will not launch a second client if it has one running already (but it doesn't check for the ankama one, only its own). As far as I know, these are the only two ways to launch the game.
